The Sewers are a location in Stardew Valley. The area can be unlocked by obtaining the Rusty Key after donating 60 items (artifacts or minerals) to the Museum. They can be entered either through the sewer cover in the south of Pelican Town or through the grates in the south of Cindersap Forest. Krobus is also located here and sells rare items.
In late-game Krobus can open a passage through the sewers to the Mutant Bug Lair, once players are on the quest Dark Talisman.

Krobus always sells Void Essence and Solar Essence, as well as one Stardrop, one Crystal Floor Recipe, and one Wicked Statue Recipe. In addition, he will also sell one other random item every day, except for Friday when he will sell the Iridium Sprinkler instead.

In late game players will get the quest Dark Talisman, which sends them to speak with Krobus in the sewers. Once spoken to he'll open a passage inside the sewers to a new small area, the Mutant Bug Lair. Inside players can gather the talisman for their quest, catch unique fish (Slimejack) and fight swarms of bugs.

The Sewers are where you can catch the Mutant Carp, which is one of the five legendary fish in the game. The table below lists all fish (and trash) that can be caught here.
Although you cannot enter the Sewers with a Horse, you can ride a Horse in the Sewers with the assist of some mods. Some mods allow you "whistle" to remotely call the Horse to your position by pressing a pre-defined key. Once entering the Sewers, you will not be able to get out riding the Horse. Also, once the horse is in the Sewers, you will not be able to neither see it nor "whistle to call" it in any places outside the Sewers. The horse will stay in the Sewers until the end of that day and you will see it at the Stable after waking up on the following day.
