After you have watered your plants, jump into the spa for full energy and then go spelunking to get resources for future upgrades.

Owning a farm shouldn't stop anyone from getting additional income sources. Once the farm is to tended to and your energy is resplenished, try mining, foraging, and/or fishing to round the day out, not just for the money, but also for the resources as well. Many of which will be used in future upgrades and crafts.
