Everytime I fished on a bubbling spot I always caught fish (never trash) and frequently caught better/rarer fish and more often with treasure. Tested it multiple times but I am only 100% sure it nets you fish faster, the rest could be luck.
Catching a fish without the fish leaving the range of the bar will display a "perfect".
