The [[Training Rod]] is a special [[Tools|tool]] used to catch [[fish]]. It can be purchased for {{price|25}} from [[Fish Shop|Willy's Fish Shop]] if the player has difficulty with the fishing mini-game.

The Training Rod can catch only basic fish, and does not allow the use of [[Bait]] or [[Tackle]].  Fish caught with the Training Rod grant the same XP as with any other fishing rod.  They also count towards [[Achievements]] and the Fish [[Collections|Collection]].

The Training Rod can only catch fish with a difficulty lower than 50:

* When using the Training Rod, the bar size in the fishing mini-game will always be set to that of fishing skill level 5. (At the beginning of the game, this is significantly bigger than the size of the level 0 fishing bar.)

* For players who have difficulty with the fishing mini-game, it is recommended to use the Training Rod until you gain a few fishing skill levels.
