:Hi Infiaria! Correct you are, I have seen the gift box icon over villagers' heads too, but when you click on them, the game pops up an "Incorrect person" message in the lower left of the screen. If you wear a Burglar's Ring and get 2 of the item (without ID spawning), the same thing happens after you complete the quest and before the extra item disappears. So, except for very specific circumstances, the game makes sure the item is not giftable.
