There are currently 4 different types of fence in the game, each last a different amount of time before degrading; with Wood Fence taking the shortest amount of time and Hardwood Fence taking the longest.

Gates can be used to pass through fences, and closed to keep livestock (and other ground-pathing entities) contained.
