Obtaining the first Big Mushroom is a random event that can only happen in the Fall. On each day of Fall there is a 5% chance of a spawning event being triggered. When triggered, the game engine will choose 10 farm tiles at random. If any of those ten tiles have a fully grown, untapped forest tree, then that tree will transform into a big mushroom.

A tree stump also has a chance of turning into a mushroom stump, though the player will have to wait until next Spring before it will regrow into a full Big Mushroom.

A Big Mushroom can be tapped with a [[tapper]]. It yields [[Red Mushroom]], [[Purple Mushroom]] and [[Common Mushroom]] when tapped, except during the Winter.
