Changes

If [[The Player|the player]] has reached at least level 2 in the [[Mining]] skill, levels can be skipped by using a [[Staircase]], which costs 99 [[Stone]] to craft. A Staircase allows you to go down a level in the mines.

After level 5, you gain access to the elevator, and it will record each 5 levels down, allowing you to quickly descend later on.  The elevator memory is 'forgotten' if you ever die in the mines and all levels must be traversed as though you never found any elevators.
