Does Holding Water Imply Retaining Tilling Too?

Since there is a 100% chance that Deluxe Retaining Soil will retain watering from day to day, and since soil must be tilled in order to be watered, does that mean that applying Deluxe Retaining Soil will also guarantee that the fertilized soil will remain tilled from day to day? I would expect so during the season, but I'm wondering if this also applies from the last day of one season to the first day of another season, when most tiles go fallow. Note that not all tiles do go fallow on the first day of a season, even at the onset of winter, so it is possible that the effect is truly "once watered, always watered".

I might extend the question also to the appearance of debris or weeds. These are found only on untilled tiles. Does that mean Deluxe Retaining Soil prevents debris from appearing on a tile, even at the onset of a new season?

I see the possibility that the only way a tile fertilized this way can subsequently be fertilized another way is to strike the tile with the Pickaxe to make it fallow, and then till it again with the Hoe.

This sounds like pretty tenacious stuff. Giles (talk) 02:56, 25 September 2021 (UTC)

It disappears at change of season (except for multi-season crops, & in the Greenhouse & on Ginger Island). It's not immune to spreading weeds/twigs/rocks during the season, especially noteworthy on Ginger Island where weeds pop up at any time. margotbean (talk) 14:53, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
Thanks much! But some of what you say can be taken two ways.
  1. It doesn't disappear at change of season in the Greenhouse, or
  2. It disappears in the Greenhouse if the crop it fertilizes goes out of season.
I'm not entirely sure of the normal Ginger Island behaviors, but the same comment would apply: "never disappears", or "normal rules"? I've never used any fertilizer heavily, but actually my greatest interest would be in what happens in indoor Garden Pots (or maybe if I can get water forever in the Greenhouse without sprinklers). Always on the lookout for a standout benefit! Giles (talk) 19:39, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
