Truffle Requests

The claim that "The Truffle will never be requested unless you own a Pig." is only half true. You can still get the quest "Mayor's Need" for Truffle Oil regardless. Maybe that's not worth mentioning on the Truffle page - but I thought I'd at least add it here. AnorZaken (talk) 23:32, 11 July 2017 (BST)

I've added it. I think it's good information to have.  :) margotbean (talk) 20:10, 12 July 2017 (BST)

Disappearance of Truffles

Just to cover all cases, I have observed at least once that truffles do not disappear from one day to the next if the season does not change. Butterbur (talk) 14:09, 16 March 2018 (UTC)

Cool. I only observed it for the Winter changeover. Will correct Pig page. :D XaqNautilus (talk) 01:10, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

I suspect that pigs can only "spawn" (dig) truffles from clear, fallow soil. Having more of that available in the barnyard may create better opportunities to get truffles. Does anyone know if this is true? Butterbur (talk) 04:27, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

I've seen them spawn in amongst grass, but I don't ever recall seeing them on tilled soil or pathing. Perhaps the clear ground requirement, if there is one, is that pig has to be standing on clear ground, because the truffles I see in the grass are usually right at the edge of the grass One More Day (talk) 09:14, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
That's what I've seen too, and what I was thinking. The truffles themselves appear to end up on a tile next to the one where a pig can be seen digging. I've seen truffles on paths, and on untillable land, even across fences, but always adjacent to fallow, tillable soil. And I've never seen them on land plots where all the soil is tilled. But in the farmyard, you might have one tilled tile where you dug up an artifact, and I don't seem to see truffles appear around those. Butterbur (talk) 17:39, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
