“I've been Mayor of Pelican Town for over twenty years! No one ever runs against me when it's time for an election. I like to think that it means I'm doing my job well. I like being Mayor.”
— Lewis

Lewis is the mayor of Pelican Town. Along with Robin, he greets you when you move to the Valley and explains a little bit about life on the farm. Lewis is known to have some sort of relations with Marnie, as the shorts he lost and brown suspenders are found in her bedroom. As well as that, a note can be found in his bedroom in the lower left on a shelf under a coffee mug, believed to be from Marnie. The note is signed "-M"

When a festival takes place, you will receive a letter in your mail box from Lewis that tells you where and when it takes place, as well as any additional requirements.

Relationships

As nobody has challenged Lewis for his title of mayor in the twenty years he has held the position, we can assume he has a good relationship with everyone living in Pelican Town. He was apparently good friends with the player's grandfather; if the player speaks to him while he is at The Stardrop Saloon, Lewis states that he will be having an extra drink in your grandfather's honor.

In parallel with his work as mayor, he is also involved in the Stardew Valley Agricultural Fund. He may send the player a letter that includes money from the fund, "to help you continue your good work," such as using it to buy seeds.

He has never been married and has no family; all he lives for is being mayor. He sometimes questions if it was worth it.

Lewis is particularly good friends with Marnie, as shown in the "Mayor's Shorts" story quest. He can also sometimes be found inside Marnie's Ranch saying, "I'm just here to make sure all of Marnie's business needs are met." Additionally, his and Marnie's 6-heart event confirms that they're in a relationship, although he doesn't want the relationship to become public knowledge.

Six Hearts.png

Enter Pelican Town between 7 pm - 11pm on a sunny day.

Note: Only occurs if both Marnie and Lewis are at 6 hearts.

Details
After entering into Pelican Town after 7PM, you will appear behind Lewis' house. Lewis and Marnie are talking by the river about making their romance public. Lewis says it would undermine his authority, while Marnie says he's too concerned for his job. In the end, Marnie says she'll keep their relationship a secret. Afterwards, you'll pop up and scare both Lewis and Marnie. Lewis asks you if you heard anything, and you are presented with a choice. If you choose to keep the secret, Lewis will thank you. If you say you'll tell everyone in town, Lewis will cry. Afterwards, Marnie will ask why you were behind the house, and your character will run away, leaving the two alone and confused.

No change in relationship occurs if you say you will keep the secret with Marnie or Lewis.

Quotes

Regular

First Meeting

“So, how was your first night in the old cottage? Your grandpa used to complain about the rickety old bed. But I think, deep down, he actually loved that house.”

Regular

“It's a good season to start thinking about gardening, even for us non-farmers. The valley is known for producing some of the finest spring flowers!”
“Just place anything you want to sell in the shipping box next to your house. I'll be interested in seeing what kinds of things you put in there.”
“At the start of each season you'll have to remove the previous season's dead crops. It's easiest with a scythe.”
“You're in town early, huh? Finished with your farm chores already?”
“Good morning! I'm just checking on the garden as usual.”
“Hmm... are these aphids?”
“Hmm... I hope these aren't scale bugs...”
“The saloon can get pretty lively at night. Sometimes we even put a coin in the jukebox *chuckle* I like to visit once a week or so to catch up on things, anyway.”
“I hope things are going well on [farm name] farm. I'd hate to see it all dried up.”
“I've been Mayor of Pelican Town for over twenty years! No one ever runs against me when it's time for an election. I like to think that it means I'm doing my job well. I like being Mayor.”

Saturdays

“Everyone seems a little happier on the weekends, don't you think? I'm on the job seven days a week, though.”

Rainy Days

“Hi there, [Player]. Taking a break? I hope the river doesn't overflow...”

After starting the Community Center

“*sniff*... *sniff*... Ah, I sense you've been spending some time in the old Community Center. It's good to know someone's taking care of the place.”

After Bus is restored

“[Player], did you hear? It seems the old town bus started working again overnight! That old thing has been dormant for decades... This is truly a great mystery.”

After finishing the Community Center

“I've never felt such an overwhelming pride in our community. You've done Pelican Town a great service, [Player].”

If JojaMart Membership is purchased

“So, the old Community Center is gone... I guess times change, and good things come and go... Yet I can't help but feel a sense of loss. I just hope this doesn't mar my record as Mayor.”

Day of Willy's 6 Heart Event

“*sniff*... *sniff*... can you smell that? I've been catching hints of fresh crab all day...”

After upgrading Pam's house

“[Player], I heard what you did for Pam and Penny... now *that's* the kind of community support I love to see in Pelican Town!”

If anonymous

“"[Player], did you hear? Someone paid Robin to build Pam and Penny a house! Robin won't tell me who it was, though. Regardless of who paid, I love seeing this kind of community support in Pelican Town!”

Spring

“Have you planted any spring crops yet? The season doesn't last forever, you know.”
“Hmm... tax collection... *mumble* ...spring festivities expenses... *mumble*... Yes?”
“Ah... There's nothing like a strong cup of tea in the morning.”

Summer

“Gardening is a hobby of mine, so I'm excited for this warm weather.”
“Ah, my flowers are growing wonderfully!”
“Good morning! Can you smell the sweet scent of these dew-lilies?”
“It's early but the air is already quite warm. Summer is nice for an old guy like me hehe.”
“How did I become Mayor in the first place? It's a long story. We're both too busy for stories right now.”
“The moonlight jellies will be here soon. It's one of my favorite things about the valley.”
“The saloon gets pretty lively at night. I like to visit once a week or so to catch up on things. And to get a taste of Gus' authentic spaghetti.”
“Hmm... I wonder if it's anyone's birthday today? I'd better check the calendar by Pierre's shop.”
“Say, are you growing any blueberries on your farm? I do enjoy a fresh blueberry.”

Fall

“Some of the townsfolk are wary of strangers. You'll have to win their trust before they open up to you. Just be persistent and you'll get through to them.”
“It was around this time of year when I first became Mayor, over twenty years ago. That makes me feel really old.”
“If you have any suggestions for the town, just drop a note into my suggestion box. Oh, that's right... I don't have a suggestion box.”
“Every Wednesday I have buckwheat waffles and coffee for breakfast. It's a little tradition I keep to keep the bachelor life interesting.”
“Hmmm... these strange little mushrooms have been popping up in my wood chips. I wonder what kind they are?”
“Good morning! We're slowly entering the cold months, so I'm seeing my garden to a gentle end.”
“I hope things are going well for you on the farm.”
“Do you have any bee houses on your farm? If you place them near flowers you can get different types of honey.”
“Sometimes you can tell if there's something buried underground. Just keep your eyes open.”
“Have you tried Gus' 'secret' spaghetti sauce? ...The ingredients may be secret, but the smell isn't. I'll see you later.”
“Are you doing your best on the farm, [Player]? You'll have to accomplish things in many areas if you want to become a well-rounded citizen.”

Winter

“Well, winter is here! That means the townspeople will be spending most of their days indoors. At least you'll know where to find them!”
“Another year is almost over! I hope you had a productive year!”
“I've got to start coming up with a plan for improving our town next year!”
“I'll still come by every night to collect your produce, even in the snow. You still need to make money in the winter!”
“I hope things are going well for you on the farm.”
“Hi there, [Player]! How're you doing today? If you see Marnie, tell her I say 'hi'.”
