It can also be caught on many of the non-standard Farm Maps: Forest, Riverland, Wilderness, and the large pond on the Four Corners Map. It can also be caught during any season in Ginger Island North and West (freshwater). It can also randomly be found at the Traveling Cart for data-sort-value="150"450–1,000g.

Midnight Carp can be caught regardless of time of day or season using Magic Bait.

Midnight Carp can be placed in a Fish Pond, where they will reproduce every 2 days. The initial pond capacity is 3 fish, but the capacity can be increased to 10 by completing two quests. The primary output is violet Midnight Carp Roe. However, River Jelly is also possible starting at population 7.

Aquatic Overpopulation: Demetrius may request 10 Midnight Carp to be caught in Fall at the Special Orders board outside the Mayor's Manor for a reward of gold equivalent to selling the fish and the Farm Computer recipe.
