Not to be confused with Slime, the drop from this monster.

Slimes are enemies that can be found in various locations, including The Mines and the Secret Woods. They come in three different variations, all based on the same sprite and code (a color hue is added to the grey sprite shown in the portrait). You need to kill 1000 Slimes for Monster Eradication Goals. All Slimes in the game count towards this goal (e.g. in the Secret_Woods). Slimes can be raised in Slime Hutches, or raised outdoors through the use of a Slime Incubator

Attacks

Slimes attack in two ways. Either they bounce slowly at you, or they "charge" to jump at you from a distance. The charging animation resembles the slime becoming almost flat to the ground. If there is an obstacle in the way, the charge jump will cause them to bounce off the object (sometimes multiple times if they're in a tight spot).

Strategy

When a slime is hit, it will be knocked back a short distance, out of range of melee weapons. The best strategy to kill slimes is to quickly reach them to striking distance to prevent their charge attack, and corner them against a wall or, ideally, in a corner (of walls, rocks, or both). Both the charged and regular attacks may be avoided by using a defensive move (such as the block of the regular sword). Otherwise, offense is the best defense.

The Slime Charmer Ring provides a reasonable protection against Slimes (except for Giant Slimes). Wearing this ring prevents all damage from Slimes, but not the slowing effect.

Mating

Sometimes, a Female slime might mate with a Male slime (which have the round antenna). If both slimes show a heart, they will create a baby slime (same HP as the parents, half the size). One might have a heart and the other an exclamation mark, which means the latter refused the advances of the former.

Slime Egg

Occasionally slimes will drop slime eggs. Those can be used in the Slime hutch to hatch into slimes. There are currently 4 kinds of slime eggs which will hatch into their respective slime colors. They are in order of level green, blue, red and purple.

Cute Slimes

At random, one slime might be considered "cute". A cute slime boasts an antenna with a small yellow star. It has 25% more health over the base HP and will do 1pt more damage per attack to the player. It has a chance to drop a rare item.
