Tackle can be attached to the Iridium Rod to make it easier to catch fish. Most recipes unlock as the player's fishing skill increases. Tackle can also be purchased from Willy's Fish Shop.

You must have an Iridium Rod to equip tackle. An Iridium Rod allows both tackle and bait to be used simultaneously. To attach bait or tackle to an Iridium Rod, left-click on the bait/tackle, then right-click on the Iridium Rod.

Tackles have a durability-bar, which decreases on use. They wear out after 20 uses and need to be replaced.

Image Name Description Notes Purchase Crafting

Spinner The shape makes it spin around in the water. Slightly increases the bite-rate when fishing. Reduces maximum delay before a nibble by 3.75 seconds data-sort-value="500">Gold.png500g Iron Bar.png Iron Bar (2)

Dressed Spinner The metal tab and colorful streamers create an enticing spectacle for fish. Increases the bite-rate when fishing. Reduces maximum delay before a nibble by 7.5 seconds data-sort-value="1000">Gold.png1,000g Iron Bar.png Iron Bar (2)Cloth.png Cloth (1)
Trap Bobber.png
Trap Bobber Causes fish to escape slower when you aren't reeling them in. The "catching" bar decreases 66% slower. data-sort-value="500">Gold.png500g Copper Bar.png Copper Bar (1)Sap.png Sap (10)
Cork Bobber.png
Cork Bobber Slightly increases the size of your "fishing bar". The actual increase is a flat 24 pixels which is a 25% to 13.6% increase depending on your fishing level (without buffs). data-sort-value="750">Gold.png750g Wood.png Wood (10)Hardwood.png Hardwood (5)Slime.png Slime (10)
Lead Bobber.png
Lead Bobber Adds weight to your "fishing bar", preventing it from bouncing along the bottom. This is perhaps not very helpful as it is fairly easy to prevent the bar from bouncing by clicking to slow it down right before it hits the bottom. data-sort-value="200">Gold.png200g N/A
Treasure Hunter.png
Treasure Hunter Fish don't escape while collecting treasures. Also slightly increases the chance to find treasures. Increases treasure chance by 33% (20% instead of the base 15%). data-sort-value="750">Gold.png750g Gold Bar.png Gold Bar (2)
Barbed Hook.png
Barbed Hook Makes your catch more secure, causing the "fishing bar" to cling to your catch. Works best on slow, weak fish. Makes your fishing bar 'cling' to the fish, automatically going up or down to try to stay on the middle of the fish. It will only try to move when the bar is actually on the fish. You can still manually control the bar but it's rather difficult, especially with slower fish. The more the fish darts up and down, the easier it is to move the fishing bar manually, and the less effective the Barbed Hook is. data-sort-value="1000">Gold.png1,000g Copper Bar.png Copper Bar (1)Iron Bar.png Iron Bar (1)Gold Bar.png Gold Bar (1)

Tips

  • If you wait until the last use of a tackle, you can instead sell the tackle for more than most fish are worth individually; durability does not affect the price of the tackle when sold.

Exploit

As of v1.3, a tackle's durability-bar can be restored to full by removing the tackle from the fishing rod, placing the tackle in inventory, then right-clicking the tackle in inventory.
