SquidFest is a fishing mini festival which takes place on the 12th and 13th of every winter. It lasts the entire day on both days. During the festival, Squid can be caught all day long and can be exchanged for prizes. There are 4 tiers of prizes, Copper, Iron, Gold and Iridium where the squids needed for each tier are shown to the left of the shop. These are daily goals and the prizes and requirements change from one day to the next, the squid caught counter also resets between days. The "The Art O' Crabbing" book is the iridium prize of the 2nd day of the event where 10 squids need to be caught to earn it. Before the event starts it is recommended the player craft a Bait Maker to obtain some squid bait as it will significantly reduce the time needed to catch the required squids

Unlike other festivals, shops and homes throughout Stardew Valley (including those at the beach) are not closed on the days of the event, and time continues to pass during the festival. Animals also need to be fed during the event; the game will not automatically consider them to be fed as with other Festivals.
