Sam lives with his mother [[Jodi]] and younger brother [[Vincent]]. He is very close to Vincent, and feels responsible for him in his dad's absence. In Spring, Year 2, Sam's father [[Kent]] returns and resides in the house with the rest of the family. After marriage, Sam will visit his family weekly to check up on Vincent, though if you speak to him while he's there he'll tell you  he really came to visit for a free lunch.

Sam is very relaxed, and takes a lot of time in married life chilling in the house. While he will help around the farm sometimes, he also makes the excuse of feeling "lazy today", and says he'll help out another day.

Though he may not contribute much, Sam is very affectionate, excitedly asking you about your day, or commenting that you look tired and  offering to give you a massage that tonight. He also likes to refer to you as "baby" or "honey". While he still makes mention of playing his guitar, he also tells you at some point that he has no interest in being a musician anymore, and is a "family man" now.

On some days (usually Friday) he will go and visit his family for the day, then spend some time with Sebastian and Abigail at the bar like he used to prior to marriage. He expresses a lot of worry for his younger brother [[Vincent]] and will tell you that seeing his family is a little surreal now because everything seems more formal than it used to.

Sometimes after visiting his family or the saloon, he will come home in a sour mood, and complain that the house is dirty.
