*Chests can normally only be acquired by crafting but if any furniture or craftable item is placed in the spouse's room and the player then divorces their spouse, a chest will appear inside the farmhouse with the placed items thus giving the player a chest without the help of crafting.

**Similarly, a chest can be acquired by placing crafted items inside the submarine or the mermaid boat during the night market. The chest will appear on the beach when the night market ends.
