When such an attempt is made, the game performs a further check to see how many journal scraps the player has already found. If all scraps have been found, the check fails. |On rainy days a Mermaid will appear on the large rock by the shore. If the player places [[Flute Block]]s and tunes them to play the [[Night Market#Mermaid Boat|Mermaid's song]], she will reward them with 5 [[Golden Walnut]]s.

To play the Mermaid's song, place a [[Flute Block]] on top or below each set of stones on the shore, then tune each block by the amount of stones. A large stone symbolizes 5, and a small stone symbolizes 1. After tuning all 5 blocks, simply run past each one from left-to-right. Note that the player does not need to have read the journal scrap to do this.

|On a rainy day, go to the southeast area of the island. There will be a flute block icon in the sand next to some stones. Place one flute block on each arrangement of stones for a total of 5 blocks. Change the pitch of each flute block according to the number represented by the stones: small stones equal 1 click, and large stones equal 5 clicks. Once solved, run past all flute blocks to receive 5 golden walnuts from the mermaid. Note that the player does not need to have read the journal scrap to do this.
