This is one of the most difficult fish to catch in the game, even compared to [[Fish#Legendary Fish|Legendary Fish]].  To make it even more demanding, the odds of an octopus biting are very rare, and the window of time available to catch it is comparatively small. The most sure-fire tactic is to reach [[Fishing#Fishing Skill|fishing level 10]], equip the [[Iridium Rod]], eat a [[Seafoam Pudding]], [[Dish O' The Sea]], [[Lobster Bisque]], or [[Fish Stew]], and attach a [[Trap Bobber]] or [[Lead Bobber]] to the fishing pole.  Using a combination of a maxed out fishing level and the [[Iridium Rod]] is often insufficient.

Other than [[Fish#Legendary Fish|Legendary Fish]], this is the most difficult fish to catch in the game.  To make it even more demanding, the chances of hooking an octopus and the window of time to catch it is very small. The most efficient way to try to catch this fish is to [[Fishing#Fishing Skill|fishing level 10]], equip the [[Iridium Rod]], eat a food that provides a fishing [[Buff]], and attach a [[Trap Bobber]] or [[Lead Bobber]] to the fishing pole.  Using a combination of a maxed out fishing level and the [[Iridium Rod]] is often insufficient. Using this method, each cast has a ~9% chance to hook an Octopus.
