Nintendo Switch
With the advent of Stardew Valley on the Nintendo Switch the controls generally listed here are not completely correct. There is no mouse on the Switch for one thing. Some of the less obvious controls are listed below.
Right Stick
One of the most useful controls is the Right Stick. It can be used to exactly place furniture, rugs, windows, etc. Where you want them. It's pretty sensitive but absolutely required especially for placing windows.
Rotate Rugs
While moving the rug into place using the Right Stick use A to Rotate the rug.
