Harvey is a villager who lives in Pelican Town. He's one of the ten characters available to marry.[1]

Schedule

Harvey can be found year round in his clinic during its open hours of 9AM to 3PM.

He has appointments with various villagers most Tuesdays and Thursdays that may affect his normal schedule.

On late Saturday mornings, he can be found in the kitchenette of his apartment.

In the Spring he can sometimes be found relaxing by a tree to the left of his clinic, past the garden.

In the Summer, he sometimes goes to reflect in the grassy area above the town.

In the Fall, he sometimes gets some fresh air south of the cemetery by the river.

Heart Events

Two Hearts

 

Trigger: Enter Alex and his grandparents house to walk in on a private check-up between Harvey and George.

Harvey tries to explain to George that he needs to make some lifestyle changes if he wants to keep healthy, but George seems irritated with his advice and states that he knows what's best for his own body. Harvey explains that he went to school for 8 years so that he could help people in an attempt to get George to cooperate, but then his attention is drawn away as he notices your character has entered the house. Harvey tells your character they shouldn't be there because it is a private session, but George stops them from leaving by asking your character for a second opinion on the matter. If the player chooses to tell George to follow Dr. Harvey's advice, Harvey will again say that he is only trying to help and George will finally give in and agree to following doctors orders. After that Harvey will thank your character for helping him and say that he appreciates them.

Four Hearts

 

Trigger: Enter the clinic in the morning.

Harvey will tell your character he was just about to write them a letter about how they're overdue for their annual check-up. As he's looking them over he notices their pulse seems high. If the player chooses "I'm a little nervous..." Harvey will assume that it's because of the Hospital and tell you to relax because he's here to help. At the end of it Harvey will state that your character is healthy and should take care not to overwork themselves on the farm.

Six Hearts

 

Trigger: Enter Pierre's shop.

You will witness a dance aerobics session with some of the ladies and someone unexpected, Harvey. Harvey seems out of breath as the session comes to an end, heading towards the door to leave but running into your character on the way. Harvey seems to be incredibly embarrassed when he finds out your character was watching, wanting to keep it a secret from everyone. He explains that he's doing it to stay healthy, which becomes more difficult with age and the stress of running the clinic essentially alone. Harvey seems discouraged because of how difficult it is for him to keep up with the rest of the group, figuring he must not be in good shape. He will ask your character not to tell the rest of the town that he's doing dance aerobics, and if the player chooses not to tell, Harvey will thank your character and say that he appreciates them.

Eight Hearts

 

Trigger: Walk into the Clinic.

Your character will head into Harvey's room to find him using his equipment in an attempt to contact a pilot. He will suddenly get a response, surprising him and making his pulse race, but he manages to respond with his coordinates. He'll then notice your character is there and tell them about how he made contact with a real pilot. He'll excitedly tell your character to come over to the window to watch the pilot fly overhead with him. After the plane passes over Harvey will open up about how he always wanted to be a pilot when he was younger, but couldn't because of his bad eyesight and crippling fear of heights. He tells your character not to be sad about it, that he's accepted not everyone can achieve their dreams and that is just the way the world is. Harvey will try to then lighten the mood by asking your character to look at his model planes, having just finished the TR-Starbird deluxe set.

Ten Hearts

 

Trigger: Your character receives a letter in your mailbox one morning to find a letter from Harvey, asking them to join him by the railroad tracks as soon as possible (after 9am).

Meeting him there, he remarks that he's glad they came and that something should be happening very soon. A man in a hot air balloon descends and lands nearby, saying that the balloon is yours to commandeer for the next two hours before heading towards town to go to the saloon. Harvey tells your character that he saw the hot air balloon rental advertised in the newspaper and thought it was a perfect thing to do together. Before hopping in, the player can either immediately get to it or ask him why he did this, since you know about his incredible fear of heights. In opting to ask, he bashfully explains that while his fear is still a major factor, he admires your character and their courage and says that it should be more than enough for the both of you. Boarding the hot air balloon, Harvey switches on the burner below to make the it ascend but soon freaks out once he realizes how fast it's rising. High in the sky his mood oscillates between fear and elation, eventually coming to his senses and remembering that your character is there with him. He marvels at how much he can see below and glad that he's doing this together with your character. Soon before the two hour rental is up, him and your character draw close into a kiss (it may be dependent on whether you've given him the bouquet or not). You return the balloon to the rental man at least a half hour late.

Marriage

To marry someone, you will need to raise their friendship level to 10, as well as have given them a bouquet (which can be bought at Pierre's store). You must acquire a Mermaid Pendant from the old mariner on the beach, in the area accessible only after repairing the bridge. You can then give the pendant to the person you desire and they will prepare the wedding, asking for three days to do so.

When you marry, your spouse will move in with you, say new things, and help you out on the farm. Each marriage candidate has some unique dialogue, so your experience will be slightly different depending on who you marry. Also, some spouses who have important jobs will continue to go into town and work after marriage.

Your spouse will also lose their gift limit and gain two more hearts. At present there is no information yet on the importance of this.

Spouses can help with farm chores such as:

Watering crops Feeding livestock Making breakfast Repairing fences One breakfast is Pancakes, which gives you a +2 buff to Foraging for 12 minutes. Different breakfasts could be created in the future.

However, spouses can become unhappy if not treated well, which will result in undesirable actions, such as laying in bed all day and saying irritating things. If your spouse is happy, they may give birth to a child.

Your spouse may also become irritable whilst walking through a house that has too many decorations, indicating that their walking pattern is being blocked.

Spousal happiness and behavior is presently erratic. There were probably attempts to make each different based on personalities and may still have yet to be finalized. All the player can do presently is talk to them until you reach a kiss/embrace motion each day. You may be able to talk to them more later in the day but the embrace/kiss gesture only generates one heart a day, inferring the player has made their spouse happy.
