Enter Elliot's home after 10 a.m when he's inside. There will be a cutscene of him playing piano. Once he finishes he will come see you complaining about life in general and will make a comment about him being a farmer just like you. You will have two options pop up. If you chose to tell him to join you he will turn you down because his novel is almost complete.

Enter Elliot's home after 10 a.m when he's inside. There will be a cutscene of him playing piano. After he finishes, you can either say "That was wonderful." or "How long have you been playing?". Elliott will then get up and start talking to you about how hard his life is at the moment, and how he wishes he could just be a farmer like you. You can either say "Farming isn't so easy, you know" or "How about you join me on the farm?".  

If you choose to tell him to join you, he is very surprised and thanks you for the offer, but his novel is almost complete, so he couldn't.
