Other than [[Fish#Legendary Fish|Legendary Fish]], this is the most difficult fish to catch in the game.  To make it even more demanding, the chances of hooking an octopus and the window of time to catch it is very small. The most efficient way to try to catch this fish is to reach [[Fishing#Fishing Skill|fishing level 10]], equip the [[Iridium Rod]], eat a food that provides a fishing [[Buff]], and attach a [[Trap Bobber]] or [[Lead Bobber]] to the fishing pole.  Using a combination of a maxed out fishing level and the [[Iridium Rod]] is often insufficient. Using this method, each cast has ~10% chance to hook an Octopus at the Beach and ~16% chance on Ginger Island West.
