An alternative to sprinklers is [[Deluxe Retaining Soil]]. It can be used on a crop at any stage of growth, and has a 100% chance of staying watered overnight. It therefore eliminates the need for sprinklers entirely, which frees up crop space. It is also cost-efficient as the fertilizer only has to be crafted once.
