It can only be obtained in [[Winter]] by [[foraging]] in [[Pelican Town]] or [[the Desert]], digging with the [[Tools#Hoes|Hoe]] (easy locations are in the field on [[the Farm]] and at [[the Beach]]), or harvested from [[Winter Seeds|Winter Wild Seeds]].

The '''Snow Yam''' is a [[foraging]] item found only in [[Winter]].  Unlike other forage items found on the ground, to obtain a Snow Yam, you must dig with the [[Tools#Hoes|Hoe]].  It's not necessary to dig at an [[Artifact Spot]], although Snow Yams may be found at Artifact Spots.  Snow Yams may be found by digging any tillable soil in Stardew Valley.  They may also be grown from [[Winter Seeds|Winter Wild Seeds]].

Digging anywhere in the snow may yield Clay, Winter Root, or '''Snow Yam'''. You do not need to dig worms to get these items. The Beach yields the highest amount, with The Farm yielding the least.
