I think it's worth mentioning, that at least wood(don't know about rocks, but I assume they do the same) counts towards the quest's goal only if collected after taking the quest. I feel like Willys quest where you have to get 100 bug meat should have a tip to go between mine levels 15-30. That quest seems really hard otherwise (at least to me). I don't know if this is worth mentioning, but for the quests Biome Balance and Aquatic Overpopulation, if Demetrius requests a "basic" fish like Sardines, then switching to the training rod for the duration of the quest makes it go much, much faster.
