After reading [[Secret Notes#Secret Note #23|Secret Note #23]] the [[Quests#Strange Note|"Strange Note"]] quest will be activated. After entering the Secret Woods with [[Maple Syrup]] in [[inventory]] between 6am and 7pm, a cutscene will play where the player encounters a grizzly bear which takes the maple syrup, and thanks the player by sharing his special knowledge of berries. This is known as [[Bear's Knowledge]], and will permanently increase the sell price of [[Blackberry|blackberries]] and [[Salmonberry|salmonberries]] by 3x.

[[Fishing]] is possible in the pond in the southwest area.  A unique [[fish]], the [[Woodskip]], can only be caught here in most games. (The only exception is if the [[Forest Farm Map]] is chosen, in which case Woodskip can also be caught on the Farm). [[Carp]] and [[Catfish]] are also possible. The available fish are the same year-round, even though Catfish is normally unavailable during summer.
