Hay is a resource used to feed barn or coop animals like chickens and cows. Provided the player has built a Silo, it can be harvested by cutting grass with the scythe.
Since grass only occurs during the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons, that is the only time it can be naturally harvested. Alternatively, it can be bought at Marnie's Ranch for 
50g each.
