Marriage

Marriage to villagers can happen after you have reached best friend status(10 hearts) with the desired character. Marriage can happen to either gender. To initiate a romantic relationship with a villager, you must first give them a special bouquet bought at the store. To become engaged, you must give the desired character a Mermaid Shell. The Mermaid Shell can only be acquired by the Old Mariner on the beach after you've repaired the bridge (300 wood) and only on stormy days, thus you cannot be married in the Winter since it does not rain.
