The Magnet is a type of bait that doubles the chance of finding treasure (30% chance instead of 15% base). This bait is decent if you want extra materials or are collecting artifacts. It can be purchased from Willy for 
1,000g after reaching level 9 fishing skill, from Krobus for 200g on certain days, crafted, or received as an award for winning the ice fishing contest.
Unlike other bait, magnets cannot be used in Crab Pots.

Notes
While the Magnet can be bought at the Fish Shop for 1,000g, crafting is a much cheaper option. Since 5 Iron Ore and 1 Coal cost 900g at the Blacksmith, the crafting cost is only 300g per magnet.
