This is relevant because if you are a collector of Rotten Plants, you would probably not want the Gold Clock based on this information. I personally happen to be collecting 999 of every item, and this information is important either way.)

The Rotten Plant is a type of trash. It is produced when a Jack-O-Lantern decomposes on the 1st of Winter (unless the player has the Gold Clock, in which, the Jack-O-Lantern will not decompose).
It cannot be placed in a Recycling Machine.

Secret
After reading Secret Note #19, solving the puzzle, and obtaining the special reward item, a Rotten Plant may be produced under specific circumstances.

| The Solid Gold Lewis statue can be placed anywhere in Pelican Town. If not destroyed by a villager walking through it, the next day it will be replaced with a Rotten Plant. This Rotten Plant can be removed with a tool, or by repeatedly left-clicking or holding left-click. |
