The Training Rod can only catch fish with a difficulty lower than 50:
* When using the Training Rod, the bar size in the fishing mini-game will always be set to that of fishing skill level 5. (At the beginning of the game, this is significantly bigger than the size of the level 0 fishing bar.)

* For players who have difficulty with the fishing mini-game, it is recommended to use the Training Rod until you gain a few fishing skill levels.

* At fishing level 5 and higher, it is never advantageous to use the Training Rod (unless you are specifically trying to catch one of the basic fish types).

===Disadvantages===

The Training Rod can catch only basic fish; see below.
