Clay is collected from either "dancing stick" tiles, geodes, or randomly when tilling dirt with a hoe. Clay can be found both on and outside the farm, particularly when tilling at the beach or in the mines.
The only building requiring clay is the silo.
Recipes requiring clay include the Keg and quality retaining soil.
