Rice Shoots are a type of seed. Mature plants yield Unmilled Rice. Unmilled Rice is harvested using a Scythe.

Rice Shoots can be purchased at Pierre's General Store starting in year 2, from the Magic Shop Boat at the Night Market on Winter 15 (starting in year 2), and occasionally from the Traveling Cart. They can also be obtained in Fishing Treasure Chests, Artifact Spots, by using the Seed Maker, or as a drop from monsters in the Mines.

Rice Shoots generally take 8 days to mature. However, they take only 6 days and do not require watering if planted within 3 tiles of a Farm Pond in any direction. Rice paddies do not need to be continuous or begin next to the pond to receive the pond benefits.

Stages

When harvested, each Rice Shoot gives one Unmilled Rice, with a 10% chance to produce an extra Unmilled Rice. At Farming skill 10, there is an additional 50% chance of another Unmilled Rice. As of 1.4 Rice Shoot is the only crop to be affected by Farming skill in this way.
