The Snake Vertebrae can be obtained by digging up Artifact Spots on Ginger Island West, mining Mussel Nodes on the Ginger Island beach (2.5% chance),[1] breaking other rocks on Ginger Island West (1% chance),[1] or killing a Tiger Slime in the Tiger Slime Grove (1% chance).[2]
Donation
Two Snake Vertebrae can be donated to the Island Field Office as part of the Snake specimen, for which the reward is 3 Golden Walnuts and a Mango Sapling.

The Snake Vertebrae can be turned into Quality Fertilizer, Speed-Gro, Deluxe Speed-Gro or Tree Fertilizer in the Bone Mill.
Tailoring
Snake Vertebrae can be used in the spool of a Sewing Machine to create the Skeleton Shirt. 
It can be used in dyeing, serving as a yellow dye at the dye pots, located in Emily's and Haley's house, 2 Willow Lane.
Quests
- "Fragments of the past": Gunther may make a request on the Special Orders board for 100 of any combination of bone items that must be gathered while the quest is active. You have 7 days to complete the quest. The reward is 3,500g and the Bone Mill recipe.
