The Trout Derby is a festival that occurs on the 20th and 21st of Summer. The festival begins at 6:10am. The festival takes place in Cindersap Forest by the river near Marnie's Ranch. During the festival, players can fish in the river to catch Rainbow Trout. When they catch a Rainbow Trout, there is a small chance to get a Golden Tag, which can be obtained with the fish itself or in a treasure chest that appears while catching the Rainbow Trout. Prizes are awarded at random when a Golden Tag is traded in at the booth nearby.

Unlike other festivals, shops and homes throughout Stardew Valley are not closed on the days of the event, and time continues to pass during the festival.

Prizes

The first prize the player recieves will always be 1 Tent Kit. Afterwards, the player can get one of 10 possible prizes listed below. This is determined by how many prizes they received previously, so the player is guaranteed to earn all of these prizes before getting multiples of one.
