The Earth Obelisk is a type of building purchasable from the Wizard at the Wizard's Tower after finishing the quest Goblin Problem.
It has a companion in the Water Obelisk which is also purchased from the Wizard.
Behaviour
The obelisk teleports the player, when interacted with, to the warp totem in The Mountains. Its function is exactly the same as the craft-able Mountain Totem but it is a place-able and permanent object which is not consumed on use. Of course, you may move the obelisk at any time by visiting the Wizard's Tower as if you were moving a farm building at Robin's Carpentry shop.
Exploit
As of version 1.1, the player can ride a horse directly below the obelisk and then interact with the obelisk while still mounted, thus transporting both animal and rider.
