If the player has unlocked the beach resort on Ginger Island, Gus will leave on random days to tend the resort's bar. A variety of drinks and the recipe for Tropical Curry can be purchased. Additionally, he will leave a box at the desk of his bar in Pelican Town with the message "I'm tending the bar on Ginger Island today, but I won't let that stop you from buying something! -Gus", and regular menu items can be purchased there.

Relationships

Gus employs Emily part-time to help at the saloon. Pam is also a frequent customer, and can often be seen chatting with Gus.

Here's a recipe from my saloon. I only share this with my good friends!

Four Hearts

Enter the Saloon during open hours.

Note: Only occurs if your friendship with Pam is at 2 hearts or more.

Details
When you enter the bar, Gus will be sitting at one of the tables looking dejected. When you ask what's wrong, he'll tell you that the saloon is having hard times financially. He'll admit that at least one problem is that Pam isn't paying off her tab and he's afraid to confront her because they are friends. Pam will then enter and ask for a drink. Gus will be flustered and concede, but you will get the choice to either say:
  • You need to pay your tab right now! (-50 friendship.)
  • The saloon isn't doing well, financially (+15 friendship.) Pam will be somewhat upset but she will pay her tab off and Gus will give her the drink she asked for.

Your relationship with Pam will not be affected either way

Five Hearts

Exit the farmhouse on a non-rainy day between 6am and 11:30am

Details
Gus appears with a pot of sauce. He draws an analogy between cooking and the player's appearance in Stardew Valley, saying that adding a new ingredient may ruin the sauce or create something new and delicious. He explains that he's come to think of the player as a good friend, and says he found an old Mini-Jukebox while cleaning the Saloon. He gives the player the jukebox, and the recipe to make more.

Seven Hearts

After reaching seven hearts with Gus he will send you a recipe in the mail.

Quotes

Regular

First Meeting

“Well hello there! I'm Gus, chef and owner of the Stardrop Saloon. Stop in if you need any refreshments. I've always got hot coffee and cold beer at the ready.”

Regular

“Yeah, I know a lot about the people living here. That's one of the benefits of being a bartender. Sometimes I hear too much...”
“I sell different dishes each week, so make sure and check in every now and then! You might taste something spectacular. Just let me know if you have any allergies. Okay, see you around.”
“Emily's been working here for a while now. I don't know what I'd do without her! I would hate to have to clean all those pots by myself.”
“Pam and Clint come into the saloon almost every night. I'd probably go out of business if they stopped coming. So make sure you don't drive them away!”
“Hi there, [Player]. If you're ever thirsty, the Saloon is the place the be.”
“Are you much of a chef, [Player]? If you have a kitchen and some recipes, you can cook some useful dishes. Home-cooked meals make great gifts, as well.”
“Business has been pretty steady thanks to my regular customers.”
“I don't actually drink very much myself. I'm mainly doing this to make a living. Although I do enjoy a taste of the Stardew Valley vintage from time to time.”

Rainy Day

“There's nothing like a glass of dry red wine on a day like this, huh? I love my job. Hehehe.”

Day of Willy's 6 Heart Event

“These might be the best crab cakes I've ever made...”

If Player has upgraded Pam's house

“Hey. I heard what you did for Pam. That was really really nice of you! Sadly, I don't think it will get her to cut back on the 'beverages'...”

If anonymous

“I saw Pam earlier today... she was grinning from ear to ear! She said someone bought her a new house! Whoever it was, they truly deserve the best!”

6+ Hearts

“Clint comes into the saloon almost every night and sits at the same table by himself. Sometimes he glances over at Emily with a nervous look. Hmmm. Maybe that's why he comes in so often. Oh well, that means more business for me.”

8+ Hearts

“Hi there [Player]. I'm glad to see you! You're always welcome here.”
“Pam comes into the saloon almost every night and drinks way too much beer. Ah well, I shouldn't pass judgement on my customers.”

Saloon

“Good evening. Can I get you anything?”
“Good evening. Make yourself at home.”
“Hi! Please relax and enjoy yourself.”
“Hey, you look like you could use a beverage.”
“Business has been really good tonight. I'm pleased.”

At Ginger Island

“Hey, [Player]! Glad you're here. I'm gonna be serving up some good stuff from behind the bar.”
“Meet me at the bar if you need a beverage.”
“Hey, need a drink? I've got some special beverages that showcase local ingredients from this island.”
“I'll see you back home, [Player].”
Events

Egg Festival

“I hope everyone's enjoying the food... I've been cooking for days to get everything ready. Fried eggs, boiled eggs, poached eggs, deviled eggs, scrambled eggs, chocolate eggs... you name it!”

Flower Dance

“Frog season is really starting to pick up.”

The Luau

“These blasted sand-flies keep landing on the food!”

Dance of the Moonlight Jellies

“Moonlight Jellies'... I wonder how they taste? I would never try it, of course!”

Stardew Valley Fair

“Eat as much as you like! It's all free today... compliments of Mayor Lewis. Oh! Make sure to dribble some of my secret sauce on there.”

Spirit's Eve

“It's a lot of fun to cook with pumpkin. Such an interesting fruit.”

Festival of Ice

“Sorry there's no food. Just wait until the Feast of the Winter Star. You'll be stuffed for days.”

Feast of the Winter Star

“It's a fine art, making candy canes. You've really got to search far and wide for the best ingredients. They aren't easy to come by these days! I usually use Fern Island Ringfruit for my premier canes, you know. You can't beat that bright red coloring... And it's all natural! Oh, you want to know the secret to my deluxe double-canes? Okay, but you've got to promise absolute secrecy. *whisper* It's a drop of vanilla in the white candy to complement the cherry flavor. Of course, peppermint candy canes are the standard, and I always make a healthy batch of those as well.

Hey, you look like you're falling asleep. Are you okay?”
