This article is about the item category. For the item, see Bait (item).

Bait is a type of item that can be attached to a Fiberglass Rod or an Iridium Rod, or inserted in to a Crab Pot. Crab Pots require bait to catch fish, but fishing rods do not require it. However, attaching bait to a fishing rod will apply effects that can help the player catch fish.

Usage

To attach the bait to your rod, left-click the bait in your backpack (or right-click to pick up a single one), then right-click the rod.

On an Xbox controller, press A on the bait to select the whole stack (or X to pick up a single one), then X to attach to the rod.

Only one bait will be consumed per use. The remaining bait can be detached by right-clicking the rod in your backpack or pressing X on the Controller.

Bait Items

Image Name Description Notes Purchase Crafting

Bait (item) Causes fish to bite faster. Must first be attached to a fishing rod. Default bait, decreases the time taken for fish to bite and lowers chance of getting trash items. data-sort-value="5">Gold.png5g Bug Meat.png Bug Meat (1)
Magnet.png
Magnet Increases the chance of finding treasures when fishing. However, fish aren't crazy about the taste. Increases the treasure chance by 100% (30% chance instead of the base 15%). This item is decent if you want extra materials or are collecting artifacts, although it does have a lower bite rate than regular bait. data-sort-value="1000">Gold.png1,000g Iron Bar.png Iron Bar (1)

Wild Bait Appeals to all fish. Decreases the time taken for fish to bite slightly more than standard bait. The recipe is obtained from Linus upon earning four hearts and approaching his Tent around 8:00PM. N/A Fiber.png Fiber (10)Slime.png Slime (5)Bug Meat.png Bug Meat (5)
