The Lightning Rod creates a Battery Pack.png Battery Pack 24 hours after getting hit by lightning during a storm.

Since each rod only protects the farm from harm if it is not already processing a previous lightning strike, it is useful to place multiple rods on the farm.

A lightning rod is the reward for completing the Bundle Yellow.png 10,000 Bundle in the Vault.

Specific Mechanics

  • Each storm will generate a random amount of lightning strikes. The exact upper-limit is unknown, but there have been reports of at least 20 occurring.
    • The chance for a storm to occur depends on the season and is listed on the weather page.
    • Note that using a Rain Totem will never make a storm appear.
  • Each Lightning Rod has a chance to intercept one lightning strike (if it is not already processing a battery). The chance to intercept a strike is high, but it is not guaranteed.[1]
  • It is not necessary for the player to be on the farm when the lightning strike happens.
  • Lightning Rods do not protect a specific area; the exact placement of a rod on the farm has no bearing on the chance to intercept a lightning strike.

Maximum Useful Rods

  • If you harvest the batteries as soon as you can after a storm, the upper limit of useful rods is around 30 (since even if the theoretical maximum number of lightning strikes is around 25, you need to account for lightning "missing" all of the rods).
  • However, in Summer, it is possible to have two storms back to back. This means that on the second storm, all of your rods would be processing batteries from the first storm, and you would miss out on potential lightning strikes. Thus, the theoretical maximum useful amount of rods could be as high as 60.

Notes

  • Though it is possible to place lightning rods outside of the farm map, they will never get hit by lightning there, and thus will produce no battery packs.
