The Preserves Jar is a piece of equipment used to make Artisan Goods. It takes a single fruit or vegetable and converts them into Jellies and Pickles.
Preserve Jar consume less time than Keg, but will usually yield less profit. However the low-value, high-yield crops like blackberries, green beans and corn are actually more profitable in the preserve jar than in the keg, as well as being much faster to process. As an example, corn juice (keg) is worth 113 gold, but corn pickles are worth 150 gold. Salmonberry wine is only worth 15 gold, but Salmonberry jelly is worth 60 gold. Jellies and Pickles are common villager favorites. See Social for more information.

Products

Quality of ingredients makes no difference to the finished product. The value of the finished product is determined using the base value (i.e. with no silver or gold star) of the fruit/vegetable. However, the preserved version is always more profitable than even gold star produce, although the profit margin is lower compared to normal produce.
Note: Tomato is considered as Vegetable.

Preserve Jar Vs. Keg

The Preserves Jar increases the profit of a crop using the following equation: 50g + (2 * base value of crop), while the Keg multiplies the base value of fruits by 3, and vegetables by 2.25. Because of this, low-value high-yield crops like corn or tomatoes are more valuable in the preserves jar. The keg, on the other hand, favors crops with a much higher base value, such as Ancient Fruit or Melons. Below is a list of crops that are more beneficial to be put in the preserves jar.
